Hypnotherapy
There is more to who we are than what lies on the surface. With earliest references traced back to ancient Egypt and Greece, hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach that attempts to address the subconscious mind toward growth and beneficial change by engaging the power of positive and relevant hypnotic suggestions. Metaphoric suggestions can be used when the conscious mind is resistant to change.
Throughout the course of a hypnotherapy session, though you are in a deeply relaxed state, you remain aware and in control. The processes used in hypnotherapy guide your imagination in such a way as to elicit alterations in your sensations, feelings, perceptions, thoughts, and behaviors. Any and all decisions about areas of change or growth, or goals that are desired, are made by you and me. Together, we discuss your concerns and your goals throughout treatment.
There are many types of services available to the public under the name "hypnosis". I am not a hypnotist, but a hypnotherapist, which means that I am trained, certified, and licensed to practice clinical hypnotherapy to address mental health concerns. Specifically, I am a National Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist (NBCCH) with a trauma-informed, integrative approach to hypnotherapy. My hypnotherapy approach is founded on advanced training and experience in behavioral, body-centered/somatic, and gestalt therapy to enhance self-awareness, choice, and responsibility. Areas of particular focus in my hypnotherapy practice include but are not limited to:
-
weight management
-
smoking cessation
-
addictions / dependencies

I also use regression hypnotherapy to help you explore the origins of trauma or other presenting concerns and to access your inner wisdom, empowerment, and potential.
Please note that I do not practice hypnotherapy as a “quick fix” therapeutic approach. I integrate hypnotherapy with traditional talk therapy and body-centered approaches, allowing you to process any of the issues and concerns that come up during a hypnotherapy session, thereby maximizing its effectiveness.
